Andreas Dress，男，研究发现组合数学与几何学，研究工作与研究领域包括几何学、代数学、拓扑学、分子进化学、计算生物学、组合学、拓扑化学及图像处理。

曾在德国Oberwolfach数学研究所和萨尔洲的瓦登-达格施杜信息研究中心组织过多次学术会议，范围涉及代数K-理论、组合几何学和近似学理论。另外，还在德国Bad Honnef物理中心和比勒费尔德交叉学科研究中心(ZIF) 组织过多个学术会议，范围包括结晶图形、拓扑化学、计算和理论生物学等。

早期的工作致力于解决纯粹数学的问题，从基础几何学到数论、拓扑、替换、代数…以及对有限和次有限集合的正则表达理论。与Manfred Eigen合作解决了分子进化和计算生物学的相关问题，奠定了相似/相异的正则数学理论的基础，被广泛应用于系统发生学领域。此后，与生物学界开始进行更多的接触与合作，使数学和生物信息学、基因组学紧密地联系起来。

近年来，开展了图形处理和图像合成方面的研究工作，它们广泛应用于最优化理论中的组合学和离散数学、结晶图形、化学、医学以及纯粹数学中的古典代数学和丢番图逼近。
